Aud’s Chime is such an important part of treatment, we were/are unaware that there is such a thing in England as we havent come across it in any hospital. This chime symbolises the ‘End Of Treatment’ for each and every patient that is receiving Proton treatment at this particular hospital.
We saw all sorts of reactions – from cheering with celebration, to people reduced to tears that finally their treatment had finished. Proton really does take its toll on the mind and body, and this is without taking into account what treatment this person has already been through and what they will have in the future.
A very moving experience for everyone witness to it – everyone came to a complete standstill and celebrated the patient, it really felt like a sense of euphoria for that person.
